Overview

See The Park From The Ground Up

Snowshoeing is the simplest way to get out into Muskegon State Park once the snow flies. Five marked loops carry you out of the white pine forest and up through the sand dunes, past landmarks like the Block House, to open views of Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake. Nothing to master — just strap in and start walking. Most of the trails go dark after sunset, but the White Night Trail stays lit, and a headlamp will get you through the rest.

From The Pines To The Dunes

“Every rise in the trail trades the forest floor for another few feet of view.”

There's no faster way to move than snowshoeing, and that's the point — the pace matches the scenery. The marked loops carry you out of the quiet of the white pine forest and up toward the open dune tops, where the trees give way to a wide view of Lake Michigan. It's the same ground our hikers cover every summer, just slower, quieter, and dressed in snow.
