Overview

One-Of-A-Kind Luge Track

Muskegon Luge Track is one of only four luge tracks in the United States, and the only kunstbahn track (German for "artificial track") built from natural ice instead of refrigeration. Three-time Olympian Frank Masley designed our 850 ft. track with six curves and two starting areas. It's shorter than the Olympic tracks in Lake Placid and Salt Lake City, so first-time athletes can handle the thrill — after a lesson and the right equipment, you'll be sliding at speeds up to 30 mph.

Luge At Night

“Only in Michigan can you luge at night on our one-of-a-kind track built by an Olympian.”

One of the best times to try luge is at night. Our track is lighted, and we keep several bonfires blazing for you to enjoy while you learn to luge.

The Learn To Luge Experience

From your first lesson on the sled to your final trip down the track, here's what a typical session looks like.

1

Lesson

Your instructor walks you through the sled — how to get in position, steer through the curves, and bring yourself to a stop.

2

Equipment

Gear up with a luge sled, helmet, and arm pads before you head to the track.

3

Climb

Haul your sled up the stairs to the starting point at the top of the hill; accommodations are available for guests with disabilities.

4

Sliding

Shoulders back, legs and arms tucked in tight — then it's an 850 ft. run down the natural ice.

5

Awards

Wrap up your session with a friendly competition and an Olympic-style medals ceremony.
