Overview

The Draw

Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park sits on a stretch of dune-carved land, just steps from Lake Michigan — the kind of ground that rewards a steady hand and a quiet mind. Archery here isn't a side activity squeezed between bigger rides. It's a chance to slow down, focus on one target, and feel the particular satisfaction of a shot that lands exactly where you aimed it. Archery runs during May through October, alongside wheel luge, zipline, rock climbing, and Trail Quest.

Find Your Focus

“You nock the arrow, settle your stance, and everything outside the target goes quiet.”

Out here, steps from Lake Michigan with the dune line at your back, that's the point — archery strips a busy day down to one breath, one release, one result you can see land. Whether you're lining up your first shot or your fifteenth, the range asks the same thing of everyone: slow down, aim true, and let the shot go.

How Your Session Works

Every session starts with a real lesson, not a five-minute demo. Our instructors walk you through how to hold a compound bow, how to stand, and how to breathe before you release — the fundamentals that make the difference between flinging arrows and actually shooting well. From there, you'll work through three quivers on our live outdoor range, coached as you go so each round is sharper than the last.

1

Lesson

Before you touch an arrow, your instructor walks you through proper stance, grip, and release technique.

2

Equipment

Next you're matched with a compound bow set to your draw strength, from lighter builds for kids to heavier setups for adults.

3

Practice

You'll run through a coached warm-up round, releasing arrows on cue while your instructor fine-tunes your form.

4

Bullseye

Then the range is yours — shoot freely, chase the center ring, and see how many bullseyes you can land.

Important Information

Good To Know

Age & Size Requirements

Archery doesn't come with a hard age or size cutoff. What matters is whether a participant can follow a short instruction and hold a 5-pound bow at full arm extension, standing upright, for roughly half a minute (accommodations available for people with disabilities). In practice, that tends to work out to kids around age 7 and up.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Every session opens with an instructor-led lesson covering stance, grip, and release, so first-timers and returning archers both start from the same solid footing.

Plan for about 45 minutes: time for your lesson, a coached warm-up round, and then three quivers (fifteen arrows) on the live outdoor range.

Yes. We adapt instruction on the spot for any visitor, so adaptive athletes are part of how we run the range every day, not an afterthought. We also have adaptive equipment to assist with holding and aiming the bow.

Adaptive Archery and Universal Accessibility

Archery meets people where they are. First-timers get patient, hands-on instruction, and returning visitors get a range to sharpen a skill they're already building. Because we adapt instruction and equipment on the spot for any visitor, adaptive athletes are never an afterthought here — they're part of how we run the range every day.
