Get Your Classroom Outdoors

DUNEiversity is our educational program where students learn about being active in the outdoors to stay healthy and the natural ecosystem here in Muskegon State Park. In the spring and fall we offer 4-5 hour long field trips where students can try our outdoor adventure activities for a fun, experiential learning opportunity. In the winter we offer snow-sports activities including ice luge, cross country skiing, ice skating and snowshoeing.

Winter Sports 101 Field Trip

Introduce your students to some popular winter sports and some they may have only seen in the Olympics. For our winter field trip program we provide instruction and all necessary equipment for each activity.

Early Elementary

Field trips for early elementary students typically include age appropriate activities like a 5 senses hike, nature scavenger hunt or fishing In the winter student can snowshoe hike, ice skate and cross country ski. Our staff will work with you to plan activities that best fit the abilities of your students.

 

Upper Elementary - High School

Older kids can participate in adventure activities like zip lining, wheel luge and archery as long as they meet our minimum size requirements for these offerings. In the winter students can ice luge, cross country ski, ice skate and snowshoe. Our staff will ensure that your students can participate in each of these activities with safety in mind.

Book Your Field Trip Today

Our staff will help plan and fulfill your entire field trip. We will begin by recommending appropriate activities based on the age of your students. Depending on your class size, field trips at our park typically last between 3 to 5 hours. Our staff will create a minute by minute intinerary for your visit and help teachers manage the time to ensure students are back on the bus on schedule. The cost for a field trip starts at $12 per student with a minimum group charge of $400.  Pricing is based on the activities and number of students attending. To book your field trip you can fill out the form below and we will follow up with additional information and next steps for planning your visit.


    Scheduling Your Field Trip

    We offer field trips on week days from 9am to 4pm

    Spring Dates: April 10 - June 9
    Fall Dates: September 4 - October 13
    Winter Dates: January & February

    Size Requirements and Waivers

    Size requirements apply to activities like zip line and luge. All participants for these activities must meet the following size requirements

    • Minimum 48" tall
    • Minimum 65 lbs
    • Maximum 250 lbs (zip line only)

    All participants must have a "Release of Liability Waiver" signed by a legal guardian.  Waivers will be provided to teachers through our online reservation portal after your field trip is booked. Paper copies are available upon request for families without internet access.

    Adaptive Sports and Universal Accessibility 

    We believe adventure is for everyone, regardless of any student's physical abilities. With use of adaptive sports equipment we're able to provide access to all of our activities to students with varying disabilities. We offer adaptive equipment and accommodations during any field trip. Talk to our staff about how we can provide access to activities for students with disabilities.
