Try Three Olympic Sports
***NOTE: Due to unseasonably warm temps and lack of snow we will be substituting our three sports as follows:

Speed skating on ice will be substituted with speed skating on our synthetic Glice rink
Cross Country skiing will be substituted with Biathlon range target shooting using a low power air rifle.
Compete in Three Olympic Sports at the Michigan Winter TRY-Athlon. This is a family friendly event designed for first time athletes to learn and compete in the sports of luge, speed skating and cross country skiing. There are no big awards and no pressure to win. Just a chance to try something new and to have fun! Before competing in each sport you will receive a 20 minute clinic to learn about the equipment and athletic technique.
THREE OLYMPIC SPORTS
LUGE
Luge is the first sport in the TRY-Athlon. You'll slide down our 650 ft. track with 4 banked curves. All athletes must take part in the 20 minute instructional clinic before competing.
SPEED SKATING
The second event is speed skating. Skaters will race around the oval on the outdoor ice rink competing for the fastest time. An instructional clinic is available prior to racing, but not mandatory.
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
The third event is a 2.5 kilometer ski race. Participants can ski in their preferred style, classic or skate skiing. An instructional clinic on ski technique will be provided after registration but is not mandatory.
Race Format and Scoring
Athletes score points at each sport by placing in the top 4 places for your age division. First place receives 7 points, second receives 5 points, third receives 4 points and fourth receives 3 points. ALL finishers get at minimum one point for trying so it is important that you try all events and finish them to at least score one point even if you finish last in the event. The highest total points of all events will determine final placement. Awards will be given to the top 3 athletes per division.
*Note that in the event of a tie in total points, the higher placement will be awarded to the participant that did better in the cross country ski portion of the triathlon.
