Free Outdoor Adventures for All Ages!
April 14th -20th

Spring into action with a week of free, fun-filled outdoor activities at Muskegon State Park! Join us for guided hikes, community runs, fishing, beach cleanups, and an Easter egg trail hunt. Discover the beauty of our trails and connect with your community

Day 1: Guided Hike on Lost Lake Trail East

Date: Monday, April 14th
Time:
6-7pm
Location: Snug Harbor Boat Launch parking lot

Explore a scenic 1.9-mile trail (approx. 45 min.) to and around Lost Lake with a guided hike. This is a wetland trail so expect potentially muddy areas—wear appropriate footwear!

Day 2: Guided Hike on Lost Lake Trail West

Date: Tuesday, April 15th
Time:
6-7pm
Location: Muskegon Luge Trailhead

Embark on a 3.2-mile hike (approx. 1+ hour) to Lost Lake, approaching from the Sports Park to the West. Hike on packed dolomite trails, passing the luge track and zip line. Enjoy stunning views from the Lost Lake overlook deck.

Day 3: Community Run Night 

with Run Muskegon and Trinity Health Seaway Run

Date: Wednesday, April 16th
Time:
6:15pm announcements, run starts at 6:30pm sharp
Location: Muskegon Luge Trailhead

Join Run Muskegon and Trinity Health Seaway Run for a group run suitable for all levels and ages. Choose between a flat 2-mile course or a challenging 3-mile hilly route. Post-run social in the fire garden!

Day 4: Learn to Fish on Muskegon Lake

Date: Thursday, April 17th
Time:
5-7pm
Location: Snug Harbor

Learn to fish for panfish (bluegill, perch, rockbass) at the Snug Harbor pier. Equipment and bait provided. A fishing license is required for participants 18 years and older.

Day 5: Hike the Lights and Bonfires

Date: Friday, April 18th
Time:
Sunset, 8:30-10pm
Location: Muskegon Luge Trailhead

Go on a self-guided night hike under the lights on the White Night Trail (1.6 mi), Pete's Path (2.4 mi), and Lost Lake Trail West (3.2 mi).  Enjoy a bonfire in the fire garden (BYO food/drinks).

Day 6: Earth Day Beach Cleanup

Date: Saturday, April 19th
Time:
10am - noon
Location: Muskegon Luge Parking Lot

Celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up Muskegon State Park beaches. Gloves and bags provided. 

Day 7: Easter Egg Trail Hunt

Date: Sunday, April 20th
Time:
Trails open at 8am, available while supplies last
Location: Muskegon Luge Trailhead

A self-guided trail hunt with 30 hidden eggs, each containing a $20 summer activity pass. A grand prize family season pass is hidden too! Follow our Facebook/Instagram for grand prize hints.

Try the Week-Long Trail Challenge

Hike four different trails in the State Park anytime the week of April 14th and share it on our social platforms to be entered into a drawing to win over $600 worth of prizes!

New Trail Signs 

Muskegon State Park trails are now easier to navigate thanks to new signage installed in 2024 by Muskegon Luge, Run Muskegon, and the Michigan DNR. Trail maps are available at Muskegon Luge and Snug Harbor Trailheads.

Accessibility on the Trails

Muskegon Luge and Muskegon State Park prioritize accessibility. Many trails are wheelchair and stroller-friendly with packed dolomite surfaces. The DNR offers a free all-terrain track chair (reservation required: (231) 744-9629).
